Krū Research to Provide Insights Into ePatients and Health 2.0 Movement
Original research gives insights to best ways to connect and engage with digital health consumers; Annual conference to spotlight innovations in field

Newtown, PA – April 21, 2009 – An estimated 75% to 85% of all internet users look online for health information (Pew Internet & American Life Project), and increasingly, health consumers are turning to social media to connect and share with others in a movement known as Health 2.0. These internet-savvy “ePatients” are known for being educated, engaged, and empowered. Limitations in the modern healthcare system, frustration with the traditional patient-physician relationship, and advances in digital technology are contributing to a shift in how patients manage their health. Yet, despite these trends, little is known about how to communicate effectively with these ePatients online and in the physician’s office.

"We are at the tipping point of a change from a paternalistic healthcare system to a patient-centered system. We can now all tell a story about how we, or someone we care about, had to become an empowered patient in order to correctly diagnose or treat a condition, and often a visit with ‘Dr. Google’ was our first step,” says Kevin Kruse, the company's co-founder and President. "The Internet and social media in particular offer huge opportunities as well as some unique challenges for life science professionals and Health 2.0 companies. Krū Research is dedicated to providing evidence-based education into how organizations can reach digital health consumers in ways that are engaging and effective."
